Glen Ample (protected by EU Plant Variety Rights). 

  • Parentage: Complex pedigree including Glen Prosen and the North American cultivar Meeker and is a sister seedling to Glen Rosa. 
  • Season: Has a 50% pick date some 7-8 days later then Glen Clova and has a longer harvest period. In more southerly locations, 50% picking date may be as late as 10 days after Glen Clova. 
  • Plant Habit: Spine-free and very upright canes of good vigour. Fruiting laterals are long and very upright with sparse foliage, resulting in excellent fruit presentation. 
  • Fruit Quality: Fruit are large, fleshy and bright red in colour. Berries are firm with large drupelets and an excellent flavour. 
  • Fruit Size: 5.3 g / Brix %: 11 
  • Yield: Yield: 5.8 T/Ha (Average yield data from trials at SCRI over five years from machine harvested plots (figures are extrapolated from a 20m row). 
  • Pest and Disease Tolerance: Carries gene A1, now susceptible to the most common strain of aphid virus vector Amphorophora idaei (strains 2 and X). Very slow to become infected with Raspberry bushy dwarf virus.
